This stadium underwent thorough-going restoration in 2000/2001. 

It has a full-size competition-standard athletics arena with a 400m running track (Type B), throwing and jumping event facilities, as well as a grass football field in the middle.
There are also other football pitches available.

Because of the available outstanding competition facilities the sporting event "Schönebecker SoleCup" has taken place in the SSC Stadium each year in June/July since 2004.

Germany´s best sportsmen in javelin throwing, shot-putting, discus and hammer-throwing participate in this competition in order to achieve the norms for international sporting highlights as well as personal or best performances of the year.

In this way numerous top athletes taking part in those final test-competitions of the "Schönebecker SoleCup" could qualify for instance for the European championships in athletics in Barcelona 2010, the world championships in athletics in South Korea 2011 and the Olympic Games in London 2012.
